Quilting

From Quilting Wiki

Hi, Many of you are probably where I was a few years ago. I knew a little about quilting but was unsure of exactly how to go about actually making a quilt. I am going to try to help with that.

I am new to WIKI so this will probably be done slowly, with some trial and error; hopefully not too much error. LOL

There are many links out there to help you learn to quilt. Some good and some not so good. We will try to get those links posted, there are so many, and get you on your way.

Tip #1 Practice making your seam:

A 1/4 inch seam is critical to your blocks coming out right. Practice making a 1/4 inch seam on scrap fabric.

Tip #2 Precise cutting is also extremely important. Whether you are cutting with scissors or a rotary cutter, making sure they are sharp and cutting carefully can make or break your quilt blocks.

Tip #3

Choose a pattern that you are comfortable with and that is on your level. A great place to find a pattern that you can tell what the level is http://www.quilterscache.com then look for a box that asks where you want to go today and clock on free block patterns.

I hope this has given you a starting point. I will be back later to add more.

Thanks
